THE BIRTHING CENTRE
NURSE BERNADETTE SAUNDERS
CERTIFIED MIDWIFE

Nurse Saunders, a certified midwife, recently completed a Masters in Public Health Nursing.

She is also a certified La Maze instructor. All patients who deliver at the Centre are strongly encouraged to participate in the series of six pre-natal classes which is designed by the mid-wives prior to delivery.
The following topics are covered in each series of classes:

Foetal development
Nutrition, Personal Hygiene and Growing
Breast  Feeding
Layette and Care of the Newborn
Labour and Delivery (Positions and Breathing Exercises)
Family Planning

The topics are covered via talks and videotapes. Exercises are discussed, demonstrated and practised. A question and answer period is a part of each class.

NURSE EVELYN GIBSON

Nurse Evelyn Gibson is well experienced with over thirty years of nursing in the Bahamas.

She is very detail-oriented and can connect with patients very quickly. Her years of experience have prepared her for all situations likely to arise during a birth session.
